Motivation and User Research
FITwise was developed by recognizing a concern for the average office worker's sedentary lifestyle. Particularly in the United States, not looking after one's health can translate into burn out, injury, or medical issues later in life. To understand potential motivations and preferences for work out apps, two interviews were conducted. The interviews along with secondary research informed the app's goals.
After the opportunities for the fitness app were discovered further research methods were used to consider user needs for FITwise. User personas and journey maps pointed out unique health concerns that an employee might face due to their role in the workforce. Before designing, competitor audits were also completed to understand what users of a fitness app might expect from visuals and interactions.
Design Process
The information architecture of FITwise displays where each interaction will lead a user. Three unique features of were specifically highlighted in relation to the development of this project: an employee ID number for onboarding, a check-in questionnaire that provides tailored suggestions for activities, and the team battles feature.
Mapping out the information provided the structure for the app. Then I began to design key interactions and templates for the app such as how activity statistics and team battles are displayed.

Final Prototype
The task highlighted in the prototype video is a user issuing a team battle to another team. The user can set the conditions of the challenge including the criteria of the activities that will be tracked, the number of activity points to collect, and the time length of the competition.
The color system used to differentiate types of activities within the app plays an important role for immediate recognition of information.
Presentation
FITwise was completed during my UX/UI co-op at Crown Equipment. Industrial designers and UX/UI designers provided feedback on this personal project through weekly meetings. At the end of the semester term, I presented FITwise and my design process of the app to the entire design department of Crown Equipment.
